Ocasio-Cortez stumps for fellow progressive in Delaware
NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York is taking time away for her campaign for U.S. House to stump for a fellow progressive Democrat in Delaware.
Ocasio-Cortez, who defeated 10-term Rep. Joe Crowley in a June congressional primary, traveled to Delaware on Friday to show her support for Kerri Lynn Harris, a political novice and community activist trying to unseat three-term incumbent Democratic Sen. Tom Carper in in next Thursday’s primary.
Speaking to a crowd of about 300 at the University of Delaware, Ocasio-Cortez noted that Harris traveled to New York to help her in her long-shot political bid, and that Harris has her support as well.
Harris and Ocasio-Cortez encouraged the crowd to get engaged in politics and fight for change, no matter what the odds.
