Western Nebraska road worker killed in construction accident
CRAWFORD, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Patrol says a road construction worker in western Nebraska has been killed in a work accident.
The patrol says the incident happened Tuesday morning as a private construction crew was working at the site of a road resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 20 in Crawford. Investigators say one of the crew members, 47-year-old Paulino Fonseca-Ramirez, of Clay Center, was crouching down near the rear of a large gravel trailer when the vehicle began to pull forward. The driver did not see Fonseca-Ramirez, and the trailer struck him.
Other workers performed CPR, and Fonseca-Ramirez was taken to a hospital in Chadron, where he was pronounced dead.
No citations have been issued.
