List of Israeli Diplomats Killed Abroad With AM-Diplomat Killed
JERUSALEM (AP) _ Ehud Sadan, the Israeli diplomat killed in a car bombing in Ankara on Saturday, was the ninth envoy from the Jewish state slain abroad since 1970. Here is a list, compiled by Israel’s Foreign Ministry, of Israeli diplomats killed since then in bombing or shooting attacks:
-May 4, 1970: Edna Peer, embassy secretary, in Asuncion, Paraguay.
-May 28, 1971: Efraim Elrom, consul general in Istanbul, Turkey. Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Turkish Liberation Army.
-Sept. 19, 1972: Ami Shehori, agricultural attache in London embassy.
-July 1, 1973: Yosef Allon, aeronautics attache in Washington.
-April 28, 1975: Giora Raviv, deputy consul in Johannesburg.
-March 31, 1982: Yaacov Bar Siman Tov, attache in Paris. Responsibility for attack was claimed by a group called the Armed Revolutionary Faction of Lebanon.
-August 20, 1985: Albert Atrakchi, Cairo attache. Responsibility for the attack was claimed by both Islamic Jihad and the Egyptian Revolutionary Organization.
-March 20, 1986: Etti Tel-Or, wife of Cairo attache. Responsibility for attack was claimed by the Egyptian Revolutionary Organization.
