Union Pacific announces railroad crossing closure for Thursday
DeKALB – Union Pacific Railroad will close the railroad crossing at South First Street for maintenance from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the DeKalb Public Works Department.
The closure is only expected to be in place for a day.
A detour will be in place to route southbound motorists east on Lincoln Highway to South Fourth Street and south to Franklin Street. Northbound motorists will use the dame detour but in the opposite direction.
The eastbound right turn lane on Lincoln Highway to South First Street will be closed.
Public works officials said they did not receive advanced notification of railroad work that took place Monday. Although no closures were put in place, there were some minor traffic delays from train equipment being moved across several downtown crossings.
