PD looking for suspect in beer theft

December 13, 2018 GMT

The Brownsville Police Department believes it has identified one of two men seen on surveillance video throwing five or six cases of beer at a store clerk who tried to thwart their beer run.

Detectives are looking for 25-year-old Mark Anthony Grant in connection to active arrest warrants for robbery and engaging in organized criminal activity.

In the surveillance video, a man police believe to be Grant and another walked into the gas station on Nov. 20 when one of the men, who is carrying five to six cases of beer, tries to leave.

When a store clerk intervenes, one of the men heaves all of the cases toward the store clerk while the other takes a fighting stance.

As the altercation proceeds, the men are only able to escape the store with a single case of beer, leaving the other cases scattered on the floor.

The pair was last seen leaving the store in a tan/light brown Chevrolet pickup truck from the early to mid-1990s.

Anyone with any info on Grant’s whereabouts is asked to call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at (956) 546-TIPS (8477). Tips could earn a cash reward and calls remain anonymous.
