Kegler’s Korner: Monday seniors at Boulevard
This week we feature the Monday Seniors from Boulevard Lanes. Terry Henke told me that the Monday league has five teams that compete for 35 weeks.
The league champion is the team that has the best record at the end of the season. This is how all the senior league champions are determined at Boulevard Lanes.
With 13 weeks in the books, the Strikers sit in first place with a 40-12 record. Shirley Henke, Mary Jean Stuhr, Bernie Moran and Don Struebing form the Strikers.
The defending champs, the Mixers, hold the season high team game and series with a 716 and a 1968. Roger Wurdeman, Larry Holmes, Bob Hawthorne and Jerry Stutzman make up the Mixers.
On the individual side for the men, Duane Spitz has the high game with a 245. The men’s high series belongs to Struebing with a 566. Both Spitz and Struebing share the league high average for the men with a 169.
For the ladies, Jeanette Blaser owns all three of the top honors with a 233 game, 547 series and a 145 average.
Following league play last week (11/12), the Beavers rolled both the high team game and series with a 703 and a 1935. Loren Stuhr, Cheryl Long, Dave Schmidt and Spitz all bowl for the Beavers.
On the individual side, Spitz led the men with a 243 (+74) game and a 572 series. His series is a new season high. Blaser rolled the top scores for the women with a 170 game and a 412 series.
Two other bowlers shot games that were at least 30 pins above their averages. Luis Rodriguez shot a 195 (+40), while Loren Stuhr had a 192 (+37).
Stuhr’s other two games were 192 and 157 for a 541 series, which was 76 pins above his average. Nice bowling to one and all.
Mike Woosley shot the high game for the men at Westbrook last week with a 290 while Eckholt put together the top series at 742. Mike’s better half, Shawna Woosley, led the ladies on a 298 game score and 715 series.
Boulevard leaders included Steve Semin rolling a 280 game and Dave Neemeyer putting together a 746 on games of 269-220-257.
The ladies were led by a couple former high school bowlers that I had the privilege to coach. Shayna Hogan’s 235 was the high game, while Shayla Long’s 662 was the high series.
This weekend, Westbrook Lanes will be hosting the Northeast Nebraska Team Challenge. Saturday the team squads are at noon and 3 p.m. Sunday they have a 12:00 noon squad time.
