LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man has been convicted of attempted murder after stabbing his ex-girlfriend’s mother, 11-month-old sister and aunt at their Los Angeles home and then leading police on a chase that ended with a four-hour standoff.

City News Service reports Thursday Jorge Gomez faces multiple life terms in prison when he’s sentenced Nov. 28.

The 22-year-old was also found guilty of additional felonies including assault with a deadly weapon and dissuading a witness by force or threat.

Investigators say Gomez had a knife and lunged toward his ex-girlfriend’s 3-year-old sister, who was shielded from injury by the aunt. She suffered six stab wounds and facial fractures.

Gomez’s former girlfriend was not home at the time of the attack in Dec .2016.
