Fundraiser for woman hit in the head with pool ball
DIXON – A fundraiser is being held for a woman injured in a downtown Dixon bar when she was hit in the back of the head with a pool ball.
Shannon Coy Mazzarisi, 43, formerly of Dixon but now of Rochelle, suffered a concussion that has given her vertigo, requiring her to use a walker, and that also has affected her speech, according to a Facebook posting by TJ Abell, who launched the online fundraiser on Friday.
“She could recover in days, or this could be the reality she must always face,“Abell wrote. “Shannon is unable to work in her condition that resulted from simply being an innocent bystander.”
The goal is to raise $5,000; a little more than $2,000 was raised by Tuesday afternoon. Find TJ Abell on Facebook to donate. Find Mazzarisi on Facebook to follow her progress.
Nathan T. Bishop, 37, of Dixon, is charged with aggravated battery in a public place, punishable by 2 to 5 years in orison, and misdemeanor battery. He posted $15,000 of his $150,000 bond on Jan. 24; his initial appearance is Feb. 27 in Lee County Court.
Bishop was convicted of aggravated battery in July 2002 and was sentenced to a year and a half probation, Lee County Court records show.
