On Trump Twitter, conservatives stand by their man during Comey hearing

The eyes of the country were on James Comey — and on President Trump’s Twitter feed, as the fired FBI director testified Thursday on Capitol Hill and observers waited to see whether the man who fired him would, as he’s done in the past, live-tweet the hearing. A bar in D.C. had even promised a round of free drinks for every Trump tweet.

Alas, there was radio silence from the president’s Twitter feed . But into the void stepped Donald Trump, Jr., who’s currently running his father’s businesses and whose own feed offers an instructive glimpse into the conservative sphere’s take on the Comey hearing. Trump Jr. started tweeting shortly before the hearings began, with his interpretation of Comey’s assertion that President Trump had asked him to back off the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.Tweet from @DonaldJTrumpJr
