Building on Hope to renovate Police Athletic League building

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) — Building on Hope will be renovating the Nashua Police Athletic League next year.

The volunteer group of designers, architects, suppliers, and builders estimates that total renovations may cost upwards of $500,000.

The group says at 102 years old, the league’s Youth Save Haven building needs major modernization and space reconfiguration to meet the needs of a steadily increasing membership. It says by removing unnecessary design barriers, expanding and separating existing spaces and renovating common spaces for ADA compliance, along with overall upgrades, the league will be able to offer a safer and more efficient program space for Nashua’s at-risk youth community.

The league’s free afterschool and summer programming is designed to help children and teens build leadership skills through educational experiences, mentoring and the development of trusting relationships between at-risk youth and police.
