The purpose of the festival is to praise God, promote music, cultivate relationships between churches and individuals, and improve the quality of life in the Shickshinny area. Community Choirfest events have included both concerts and services and have featured a wide variety of choral music. The festival has also commissioned several new musical compositions over the past 16 years, including two songs about Shickshinny featuring lyrics by local poet June Kessler.
