Stamford returns to normal after torrential rain
STAMFORD — Fire and police dispatchers say there are nearly no lingering effects from Tuesday’s torrential rain.
Eversource is reporting no power outages in Stamford.
Police Sgt. Sean McGowan said all city roads are open and traffic is running smoothly Wednesday morning.
But that wasn’t the case around 3 p.m. Tuesday when fire and police rescued motorists and Fire Engine 3 rescued 32 children from a partially submerged school bus that was stalled in the rain on Dale Street.
Stamford Health Department Director of Environmental Health Inspections said 3.7 inches of rain fell Tuesday at Stamford Government Center and 3.24 inches of rain fell at the Water Pollution Control Authority on Harborview Avenue.
