High school trainer in Louisiana accused of sex with student

OPELOUSAS, La. (AP) — A female trainer at a Louisiana high school has been arrested and charged with having sex with a student.

Opelousas police told news outlets that 28-year-old Laura Lynn Huval of Crowley has been arrested and charged with felony prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and student.

Huval had been working for a company in Lafayette that provides trainers to schools and had been assigned to Opelousas High School.

Opelousas Police Chief Donald Thompson said another employee of the company reported the conduct.

Huval is being held in the St. Landry Parish jail. She faces up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 if she is convicted. It was not known if she has an attorney yet.
