A city man faces charges after an attempted break-in at a apartment early Thursday, police said.

About 4:30 a.m., police responded to a reported burglary on a second-floor apartment at 1224 Diamond Ave. A man, later identified as Isaiah Lemaire, 18, 1327 Amherst St., fled the scene toward Court Street, where he hid until police found and arrested him.

The apartment showed signs of attempted breaking and entering, but a dead bolt prevented entry.

Lemaire claimed friendship with the apartment’s occupant, who is in Lackawanna County Prison. Lemaire is charged with loitering and prowling at night and possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

He is free on $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is slated for April 9.
