April 9, 2018 GMT

A 64-year-old woman was struck by a McKeesport police vehicle as she crossed a city intersection Monday night, sending her to a Pittsburgh-area hospital in stable condition, police Chief Bryan Washowich said Tuesday.

The incident happened at 8:50 p.m. at the intersection of Sinclair Street and Lysle Boulevard.

Washowich said the patrol unit was headed east on Lysle Boulevard on routine patrol when it struck the woman, who was in the middle of the intersection. He did not identify the officer or officers involved nor the victim.

Washowich said his department is working with Allegheny County Police to perform accident reconstruction and a “thorough investigation” is ongoing.
