Lincoln man accused of causing 3-year-old’s head injury

October 30, 2019

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A Lincoln man accused of causing a severe head injury to a 3-year-old that left the boy partially paralyzed has been charged with child abuse.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that 24-year-old Allen Anderson was arrested Monday and his bond set at $75,000 on Tuesday. He posted bond later in the day to be freed. Anderson faces up to 50 years in prison if he’s convicted.

Police say Anderson called 911 the night of Oct. 11 saying the boy had fallen and hit his head getting out of a bathtub and had stopped breathing. Medical scans showed a severe brain injury, and doctors noted bruising on the boy’s body. Doctors told police the child’s injuries would not have been caused by a fall.

Police investigator Dustin Romshek says the boy is now paralyzed on the right side of his body.
