Sheep-killing grizzly euthanized in northern Montana
KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — Montana wildlife officials say they have euthanized a grizzly bear after it killed 29 sheep and 11 lambs over a two-week period at a sheep bedding ground.
The Daily Inter Lake reports the 278-pound (125-kilogram) grizzly was killed on Friday near Tiber Dam in northern Montana.
Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials say a rider at a sheep-raising ranch where the attacks occurred had chased the bear away twice recently, only to have it return. Efforts to trap it failed, and the grizzly ultimately was captured at the ranch.
On Thursday, wildlife managers killed a grizzly bear in northwestern Montana that repeatedly broke into trailers, garages and sheds in search of food.
