Homeless man charged with murder in connection with stabbing
BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts homeless man has pleaded not guilty to murder in connection with a stabbing at a park.
State police say 32-year-old Nicholas Galanto stabbed 23-year-old Brenden Flynn in the chest at Hyannis Village Green in Barnstable Sunday night.
The Cape Cod Times reports that police and firefighters responded to a 911 call and Flynn was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Galanto’s attorney said at the arraignment Monday that she agreed with prosecutors to hold Galanto without bail without prejudice, meaning the issue may be reviewed later.
Authorities say Galanto told them he got into an argument with two men, but denied having a knife or getting into a physical altercation with anyone. He declined to talk further with police.
A probable cause hearing is scheduled for June 25.
