Annual Tox-Away Day program going away
Tox-Away Day is going away.
The annual event held on the first Saturday after Labor Day is being discontinued because the program has been expanded, the Allen County Department of Environmental Management said today.
Residents can drop off household hazardous waste products every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2260 Carroll Road, the statement said.
For years, the annual Tox-Away event was the only time residents could properly dispose of household hazardous products, it said. Since the program’s expansion in July, residents have disposed of more than 18,000 pounds items such as oil-based paints, toxic cleaners, automotive oils and herbicides.
