UTSA to visit LSU in 2020 football opener

July 2, 2017 GMT

UTSA will open the 2020 football season with a game at LSU, according to a report by FBSchedules.com.

The website, citing a copy of the contract between the two schools, reported the Roadrunners will receive a $1.4 million guarantee to play at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on Sept. 5, 2020. It will be UTSA’s first game against LSU, a Southeastern Conference juggernaut that has won three national championships.

UTSA, which plays in Conference USA, played its first season in 2011 and is coming off a 6-7 campaign under first-year head coach Frank Wilson. The Roadrunners made their first appearance in a bowl game in December, losing 23-30 against New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl.

The Tigers, who also have nonconference games scheduled against Texas and Rice in 2020, recently lost commitments from two San Antonio-area high school players. Steele safety Caden Sterns flipped to UT, and Somerset quarterback Zadock Dinkelmann is now committed to BYU.
