Greater Pee Dee State Fair set for October
FLORENCE, S.C. -- Florence Center officials Thursday announced the return of the Greater Pee Dee State Fair along with new dates set for October.
The Second Annual Florence Fair promises to once again impress the region with major attractions, mega thrill rides, live concerts, and world-class amusements.
Although the 2018 fair was cut short due to Hurricane Florence encroaching the region, officials said the event was on pace to exceed expectations and are eager for a second year.
The inaugural Greater Pee Dee State Fair was held in September last year and representatives have shifted the fair into October for cooler weather.
“We originally chose September to provide some distance from the Eastern Carolina Agricultural Fair, but since the ECA Fair unexpectedly jumped ahead to August, we think moving deeper into the fall season makes more sense,” said Hubert Bullard, fair manager. “It doesn’t make sense to have two fairs in the warm season, so we’re moving to October for the cooler climate. We’re not sure what dates the ECA Fair is planning for, but hopefully the two fairs are spread apart and both see great success this year.”
The Greater Pee Dee State Fair will provide a safe setting for fun, family-friendly entertainment featuring music, attractions, shows, animal exhibits, arts and crafts.
“We’re bringing a ton of rides and attractions this year. We want to keep the momentum going from where we left off in 2018 before the hurricane hit,” said Paul Beard, General Manager for the Florence Center. “We’ve been speaking with artists, entertainers, and acts for several months and plan to announce a few of our major attractions soon.”
In addition to rides, games, and entertainment the Greater Pee Dee State Fair will have fair foods and carnival snacks.
The Greater Pee Dee State Fair will take place Oct. 4-13 at Florence Center, 3300 W. Radio Drive in Florence.
Tickets to the Greater Pee Dee State Fair will be available later this year.
