‘Obsession’

What: Jude Law stars in “Obsession,” a live stage adaptation of the 1943 Italian film of the same name. When Gino and Giovanna plan to murder Giovanna’s husband in a ploy to keep the lovers together, their criminal act drives the two apart. Filmed live at National Theatre London. A menu of champagne cocktails, wine, craft beers, sodas and snacks will be available.

Mother Emanuel Tours

What: Tours of Emanuel AME Church will be offered in recognition of the anniversary of the mass shooting at the church that killed nine parishioners on June 17, 2015. Group tours must be scheduled through the church office.

School Supply Distribution

What: The family of Myra Thompson, a victim of the mass shooting at Emanuel AME Church on June 17, 2015, will sponsor a school supply distribution for students in grades K-12, in honor of Thompson, a committed educator to her community.

Carolina Day Primer

What: In commemoration of the British defeat at the Battle of Sullivan’s Island on June 28, 1776, Dr. Nic Butler, historian with the Charleston County Public Library, will give an overview of the watershed battle and the ensuing two-and-a-half century legacy of the civic holiday known as Carolina Day.

An Evening with Mary Alice
