Dozens of police quell bottle-throwing LA high school brawl
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dozens of police officers had to be called onto a Los Angeles high school campus after a fight between two female students turned into a bottle-throwing brawl involving scores of people.
KCBS-TV reports the brawl broke out shortly before noon Tuesday after “bad blood” between the students at John C. Fremont High School erupted when they saw each other at lunch.
As bystanders filmed the action with cellphones, things escalated as several other fights broke out and students began to hurl bottles and food.
LA schools police Officer Rudy Perez says one officer was hit with a bottle but not seriously hurt.
Eight students were detained and later released to their parents.
Perez says police will be providing “high visibility” campus patrols Wednesday to ensure trouble doesn’t return.
