Badgers women’s hockey gameday: Colgate 4, Wisconsin 3 (2OT)

MINNEAPOLIS — Breanne Wilson-Bennett scored her third goal of the game 16:03 into the second overtime for Colgate, which ended the University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team’s run at a national championship with a 4-3 victory in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinals on Friday. Game story

Three stars

No. 3: Badgers senior co-captain Baylee Wellhausen scored and was plus-2.

No. 2: Julia Vandyk made 45 saves for the Raiders.

No. 1: Wilson-Bennett’s hat trick gave the Raiders the upper hand.


The University of Wisconsin women’s hockey team broke a string of three straight NCAA Frozen Four semifinals last season, and it looks for a second straight victory when it plays Colgate at Ridder Arena on Friday (7 p.m., BTN, 1310 AM).

No. 2 UW got past Boston College 1-0 in last year’s semifinals after losing to Minnesota in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Friday’s game is the first meeting between the Badgers and the Raiders. The winner plays Clarkson, which defeated Ohio State 1-0 in overtime on a Loren Gabel goal.
