Driver identified

State police identified Donna Spangler, 51, Rockwood, as the person who was transported by ambulance to Somerset Hospital for a minor injury after a two-vehicle accident Tuesday at Piedmont and Chickentown roads in Milford Township.

Timothy Emerick, 27, Hyndman, was traveling south on Piedmont Road and stopped at a stop sign. Spangler was driving west on Chickentown Road. Emerick pulled out from the stop sign directly in front of Spangler’s vehicle. She struck Emerick’s pickup, according to police.

Machines taken

State police are investigating the theft of equipment, including a snowmobile and mountain bikes, along Slagle Hill Road in Quemahoning Township.

The machines belonged to Daniel Raymond Leyton, of Johnstown, and the theft occurred April 1-7, police said. The machines taken were a 1999 Arctic Cat ZR500 snowmobile, a mini bike, three mountain bikes, a walk-behind mower, a Yard Machine riding mower and an orange cement mixer, police said.

Collision in tunnel

Neither driver was injured when a tractor-trailer rear-ended a Ford E350 in the Allegheny Mountain Tunnel in Stonycreek Township on April 4, according to state police.

Traffic had slowed because there was a vehicle out of gas in the tunnel, police said. Jeffrey Carroll, 55, Richwood, Ohio, could not stop his Mack truck in time and struck the rear end of the truck in front of him driven by Larry Sadler, Apollo, police said.

Both vehicles were driven out of the tunnel, police said. Carroll and Sadler were wearing seat belts, according to police.

Dog bite

An 8-year-old Boswell boy was bitten by a dog multiple times at a residence along Main Street April 5, according to state police.

The basset hound was quarantined and the child was taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.
