Fairfield gas station robbed again; 1 arrested
FAIRFIELD - A 17-year-old male from Bridgeport has been arrested in connection with a robbery at Star Fuels on Jennings Road.
It was the third robbery at the business this year.
According to Fairfield police, at 9:39 p.m. on Saturday, a store clerk called 911 to report he had just been robbed by two black males, one of which may have had a gun underneath his shirt, and the second male punched the clerk in the face just before taking cash from the register.
The store clerk was not seriously injured. According to the clerk, the males were last seen running on Jennings Road
“A K-9 track led officers directly to a male that matched the description of one of the suspects emerging from a residential backyard at the intersection of Old Stratfield Road and Black Rock Turnpike. He was taken into custody without incident,” police said in a release.
Items of evidence from the robbery were located near where the suspect was taken into custody. After several K-9 tracks were conducted, officers were unable to locate the second suspect.
A 17 year old male from Bridgeport was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree.
.He was turned over to the custody of a family member after being issued a juvenile summons.
In April, Conlin W. Mellen, 24, of Easton, was charged with four robberies at two local gas stations. Two of the robberies were at Star Fuels, 350 Jennings Road, on Feb. 11 and March 25. The other two happened at Stratfield Mobil, 12171 Stratfield Road, on March 26 and April 1.
