Downtown Lowell Detours Begin Mon.
Sun Staff Report
LOWELL -- A portion of a downtown street will be closed to traffic until August as workers construct a new roof on the 1922 Lowell High School building.
Beginning Monday at 7 a.m., Kirk Street from Paige to French streets will be closed, according to a city press release issued Friday morning.
Kirk Street will remain one-way, and all traffic using Kirk Street will be directed to turn onto Lee Street or Paige Street to exit the area.
Paige Street is currently two-way, but will be one-way between John and Kirk streets.
There will be detour signs in the area. Motorists should use the detour or seek an alternate route. Drivers should expect delays, and be prepared to stop and proceed slowly through the detour route.
Pedestrian traffic will not be affected in the area.
