Mark Plotzky op-ed: Tantrums over Trump inappropriate

July 14, 2017 GMT

Two recent opinion pieces illuminate and clarify the apparent mission of the newspaper; to attack President Donald Trump. Mary Farrell seems to think that Trump is tweeting like a child (Sunday, July 2, 2017, Opinion, “Tweeting like a 5-year-old”) and Alma Rutgers’ column thinks Trump is a demagogue who would be a dictator and threatens the foundations of our democratic institutions (July 2, “A new challenge to answer freedom’s call”). It’s as if the anti-Trump and pro-Hillary crowd feels that the only way to survive the results of the recent presidential election is to continue to throw a temper tantrum.

Sorry ladies, but Trump won. Those of us who felt the same way about Obama being re-elected did not throw tantrums. We organized, we rallied, and most importantly we waited until the next election. Unfortunately, Ms. Farrell seems to think that entertainers such as Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are allowed to attack and attack and attack with no reprisals. Well guess what? Trump decided to counterpunch. As for the “old saying that still rings true, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,” shouldn’t that apply to Joe and Mika?

But away from the nonsensical discussions about Trump’s tweeting, Ms. Rutgers feels that Trump is a demagogue who threatens our democracy. I guess the people who voted for Trump and support him are just as dangerous as Trump, according to Ms. Rutgers. Maybe you should round us up and confine us to “containment camps.” After all, it’s something the Democratic Party has experience with.

Will Ms. Rutgers also be attacking Obama for allowing the Russians to hack the DNC’s server and doing nothing about it? By the way, can you give us one good reason why the hacked server has not been handed over to the FBI to help in the investigation? Perhaps she is too busy promoting the Trump/Russia collusion story. You know the story that is run ad nausea by the liberal media but there has not been one shred of evidence to support it.

Would a “dictator”, as Ms. Rutgers claims Trump is becoming, allow the courts to overrule his executive orders? No, he would not. Despite Ms. Rutgers’ fear mongering, Trump is following the law and for the first time in years is trying to strengthen America. The threat to Democracy was eight years of Obama, not Trump.

But Ms. Rutgers is correct about something; our democracy is under assault from within. Aided by the liberal Mainstream Media the Democratic Party is on a mission to continue Obama’s assault on our country. A mountain of debt, eroding race relations, failed foreign policies which include the rewarding of the No. 1 supporter of terrorism with billions, etc. are what both ladies long for. Whether Abraham Lincoln said the following quote or not, its meaning is clear and Liberalism is the enemy within; “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves”
