Shooter Jennings and Lillie Mae headlining OYO Arts and Music Festival at Port of Ashland
ASHLAND - Currents are moving swiftly as the OYO Arts & Music Festival fast approaches and prepares to immerse the region in new experiences that redefine the city’s cultural landscape.
OYO Arts & Music Festival is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Port of Ashland’s Riverfront Park. The arts and music fest will feature a full lineup of local, regional and national musical acts, an artisan market, original art installations, eclectic vendors, craft beer and area food trucks.
OYO Arts & Music Festival features a general admission area and a VIP experience presented by Delta by Marriott Hotel. VIP experience includes private amenities, direct stage access, and an eclectic and exclusive VIP tent and viewing area. VIP guests may also purchase exclusive and specialty foods crafted by The Winchester Steak & Seafood Restaurant.
General admission pre-sale tickets are $25; day of event cost is $35. VIP admission pre-sale tickets are $50; day of event cost is $60. Children five years old and under may enter the event at no charge.
OYO offers a discounted ticket rate of $15 to students. Students must present school ID in order to obtain discounted rate.

The event name pays homage to regional influences and the Ohio River. According to text, the Ohio River received its English name from the Iroquois word “oyo,” meaning “the great river.”
Festival headliner is outlaw country and Southern rock artist Shooter Jennings. In addition to Jennings, the festival also features Third Man Records artist Lillie Mae.
Other artists include: Nicholas Jamerson; LuchaDora; Qiet; Josh Brown & the Hard Livin’ Legends; Of the Dell; Laid Back Country Picker; and Sasha Collette & the Magnolias. The festival will also feature the adult division winner of the Ed Haley Fiddle Fest held during Poage Landing Days.
Original art installations and live art demonstrations will be on display during the Festival. The event will feature the installation work of Ashland native and Cincinnati-based sculpture artist Rick Wolhoy and a live chainsaw carving by Ashland area artist and carver Travis Williams. Print My Threads will also be demonstrating live print making techniques as well as offering a hands-on print making experience.
OYO Arts & Music Festival also features an on-site creativity center that hosts a mindful series of activities throughout the day designed to engage participants of all ages. Activities include visual and performance art exercises, live music demonstrations, and a Kentucky Chautauqua speaker presented by Kentucky Humanities.
Kentucky Humanities presents Jean Ritchie, “Damsel with a Dulcimer.” Jean Ritchie is portrayed by actress Rachel Lee Rogers of Versailles, Kentucky. Trained at Northern University, Rutgers, and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, Rogers currently serves as the arts facilitator at the School for the Creative Performing Arts at Bluegrass (SCAPA) and as a local educator. She has been part of many international, national, and regional productions including performances with the Bluegrass Opera, Woodford Theater, Actors Guild of Lexington, Lexington Shakespeare Festival, Studio Players and the Lexington Public Library.
Creativity Center activities take place from 1 to 6 p.m.; Kentucky Humanities Chautauqua speaker, Jean Ritchie, begins at 3 p.m. All ages are welcome.
Craft and domestic beer will be on sale during the event. Featured brands are Alltech, Country Boy Brewing, Portsmouth Brewery and Anheuser-Busch products. Beer sales are sponsored by Perry Distributors, Inc.

The Winchester Steak & Seafood Restaurant hosted by Delta by Marriott Hotel is the featured VIP food vendor and is and limited to VIP experience ticket holders only. Additional food vendors include: Dragonfly Resort Café; Fast Lane Foods and Desserts; Grindstone Coffeeology; Matney’s Wood Fired Pizza; ScragglePop Kettle Corn; Smokin J’s Rib and Brewhouse; and Suplex Tacos.
“All details and aspects of the OYO Arts & Music Festival create a visual and auditory experience, right down to the food selections. Festival goers can watch foods like hand-rolled ice cream being prepared, experience live art and crafting demonstrations, take in an eclectic mix of music, and even have their own opportunities to create while at OYO,” said Ashland in Motion executive director Whitney Lowe.
Festival gates open at 12 p.m. Festival hours are 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. All admission levels are encouraged to bring their own seating such as blankets, camping chairs, etc. Purses and backpacks will be inspected at the gate. Coolers and outside food and drink are prohibited.
