Men’s College | Yellowjackets get important win
COON RAPIDS — After dropping four of its last five games, the Rochester Community and Technical College men’s basketball team was feeling desperate for a win.
Saturday they got it.
RCTC struggled from the free throw line in the final minute but still hung on to beat Anoka-Ramsey Community College 72-69.
Karmoga Lero scored 17 points for RCTC, while Naa’il Mahdi had 12, DaMichael Brown 11 and Mark Manyuon 10.
Lero also grabbed nine rebounds and hit 5 of 8 3-pointers. Mahdi had six assists.
“We needed that game,” RCTC coach Brian LaPlante said. “That win got us back into the hunt in the conference race.”
RCTC shot 28-for-60 from the field. It was an especially good 10-for-18 from 3-point distance.
RCTC is 2-2 in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and 9-8 overall.
