Worker Struck by Pickup, Killed in Concord
CONCORD -- A man believed to be working along the side of the road was killed after being struck by a commercial vehicle at around 12:20 p.m. Monday, authorities say.
A preliminary investigation suggests the man was working near the intersection of Independence and Alcott roads when the utility pickup truck ran him over while backing up, according to a press release from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The name of the victim has not been released pending the notification of his family, according to Ryan.
The driver of the 2016 Ford pickup truck remained on scene. No charges have been filed, the release states.
The investigation remains ongoing by Ryan’s office, the Concord Police Department, the Massachusetts Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Commercial Enforcement Team.
