Creston pedophile gets 4 years in prison
DIXON – A Creston sex offender who sexually abused a girl younger than 13 nearly 4 years ago was sentenced to 4 years in prison for aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
William J. Schorsch, 52, formerly of Malta, was arrested Feb. 15 for the abuse, which occurred on Nov. 30, 2013, in Compton, and was reported to police in December.
As part of a plea agreement, Schorsch changed his plea to guilty Oct. 19 in Lee County Court, and also was levied $1,626.88 in fines and fees and given credit for 246 days served.
The charge could have carried up to 7 years.
According to Sauk Valley Media archives, in 1993, when he was 28, Schorsch was sentenced in DeKalb County to 6 years, also for aggravated criminal sexual assault of a child younger than 13. He was released after 5 years.
He also has several felony convictions for failure to register as a sex offender, in 2001 in DeKalb County and in 1999 and 2007 in Ogle County.
