WEEKLY WINNERS: Landmark Conference Honors Two U Of S Athletes

Weekly winners Two University of Scranton athletes were honored by the Landmark Conference in its weekly awards for the period ending Sunday. Junior Michael Elefonte was named men’s lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. In two wins, Elefonte had eight goals and three assists for 11 points. Sophomore Jennifer Sweeney was selected softball Athlete of the Week. During a 5-1 week, Sweeney batted .684 (13 for 19) with three doubles, three home runs, 17 RBIs, three walks and one stolen base. CSAC Keystone College junior Savanna Robinson was chosen Colonial States Athletic Conference women’s lacrosse Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday. Robinson collected 12 goals and four assists in three games, including her 100th career point. Teammate and junior goalie Daphne Leenas was named to the weekly honor roll for making 27 saves during the 1-2 week. Shannon Lloyd of Keystone made the softball weekly honor roll. The junior batted .556 (5 for 9) with two home runs and six RBIs during the week and collected her 100th career hit. Atlantic East Marywood University junior Zach Vaughan was named to the Atlantic East Conference men’s lacrosse weekly honor roll for the period ending Sunday. Vaughan had seven goals and one assist for eight points during the Pacers’ 1-1 week. — SCOTT WALSH
