COLORADO RIVER DROUGHT PLAN
PHOENIX _ A major Southern California water agency is trying to push the state through a final hurdle in joining a larger plan to preserve a key river in the U.S. West that serves 40 million people. Most of the seven states that get water from the Colorado River have signed off on plans to keep the waterway from crashing amid a prolonged drought, climate change and increased demands. _ ROCKIES WEATHER _ A developing late winter storm is expected to bring blizzard conditions to parts of southeast Wyoming and eastern Colorado. The National Weather Service says the storm was expected to begin in Wyoming early Wednesday and become more intense throughout the day as it spreads into Colorado.
_ UNEMPLOYMENT RATE _ The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 4.1 percent in December to 4.0 percent in January. The January rate is the same as the U.S. unemployment rate of 4.0 percent.
_ ELK REFUGE _ Wyoming wildlife manager have counted fewer elk and bison this winter on the National Elk Refuge near Jackson than in past winters.
