Mary A Braun Marcotte, 86, of Bourbonnais, passed away peacefully Sunday (Jan. 13, 2019) at Riverside Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley, the National MPS Society in honor and memory of Logan Marcotte or Maternity BVM Catholic Church.

Mary was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Kankakee, the oldest daughter of William and Gladys Lee Braun. Mary graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1950, and Gallagher Business School. She married Ralph “Red” Marcotte on Jan. 5, 1952, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Kankakee. Red preceded her in death March 19, 2011.


She retired from Larimer and O’Connor Accounting as a bookkeeper, Tri-City Meats and Uncle Red’s BBQ and Catering. Mary was active with Reliv, Maternity BVM Catholic Church, the Ladies of St. Anne and the CCW.

Mary’s favorite pastimes were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, church, the Rosary, Sunday dinners with her siblings and playing cards with her family.

Surviving are three daughters and one son-in-law, Denise Marcotte, of Bourbonnais, Michelle and Pat Baldwin, of Kankakee, and Annette Langellier, of Normal; six sons and four daughters-in-law, Phil Marcotte and Jesus Pena, of San Diego, Jacques Marcotte, of Redondo Beach, Calif., Andre and Melissa Marcotte, of Bradley, Joel and Linda Marcotte, of Bourbonnais, Pierre and Dena Marcotte, of Bradley, and Jon and Tammy Marcotte, of Bourbonnais; 21 grandchildren, Jacques (Dawn), Teresa (Michael Smith), Lucas, Nathan, Becca, Cody, Austin, Peyton (Tyler Kotowski) and McKinley Marcotte, Anna (Austin) Herdina, Peggy (Jeremy) Heck, Amelia (Jon) Hamilton, Andy Baldwin, Paul, Benjamin, Jon Paul (Tiffany Semanski), Samuel Langellier, Julia (Rusty) Galt, Lindsay Tackett, Bailey Lovell and Carter Longtin; six great-grandchildren, Victoria and Lucas Langellier, Connor and Ryan Heck, Ella Galt, Maizley Marcotte and three more due in May; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruth Thornton, of Momence, Marge Bowsher, of Phoenix, and Aleta Braun and Bob Ebendorf, of Santa Fe, N.M.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, James “Sam” Braun, of Bradley, and Rick and Jann Braun, of Springfield; three sisters-in-law, Patricia Perreault, of Irwin, Eleanor Marcotte, of Dugger, Ind., and Esther Marcotte, of Bonfield; and many nieces and nephews “too numerous to count, but equally loved nonetheless,” the family said.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son-in-law, Jeff Langellier; two daughters-in-law, Teresa and Rita Marcotte; one grandson, Logan Marcotte; in-laws, Connie Braun, Richard Bowsher, Ron Thornton, Kenneth Marcotte, Roland Marcotte, Ambrose Perreault, Phoebe and James Ealy, Rose and Harold Longtin, Euchrist “Mush” and Yvonne Marcotte and Henrietta and Francis “Foo” Chamness; and one nephew, Joey Thornton.


Mary’s family would like to “extend their sincerest thanks to her wonderful team at Riverside Medical Center, including the AIM hospitalist group, with special thanks to Chris Mitsdarffer, Dr. Issa and Dr. Ross; Dr. Haryani, Dr. Suprenant and Kendra, the Heart and Vascular staff and Cheri Rogers; Dr. Brown; Beth Ludwig; the entire 3 telemetry staff; and Hospice of Kankakee Valley and Miller Rehab. Your love and support are invaluable, and we are thankful you were there every step of the way. God bless.”

She will be missed greatly by all who knew her, especially her family.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at Maternity BVM Catholic Church in Bourbonnais, with the Rev. Jason Nesbit officiating. Burial will be in Maternity Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her six sons.
