Man, 92, found dead in house fire that was never reported
AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say the body of a 92-year-old man has been found in the debris of his burned out home after no one reported the blaze.
Aiken County sheriff’s deputies said a family member called 911 Saturday afternoon after checking on the home and finding it destroyed.
Deputies say fire investigators checking the debris to determine the cause of the fire found the man’s remains Sunday morning.
Coroner Tim Carlton identified the victim as James Oakman.
Carlton said in a statement he considers Oakman’s cause of death is suspicious.
