Dancing Stars Of Wilkes-Barre To Perform At Benefit
The KISS Theatre Company will be holding a fundraising event featuring seven local celebrity teams tomorrow at 8 p.m. at their new location in the East End Center in Wilkes-Barre Twp.
The event is modelled after ABC’s hit television show “Dancing With the Stars”, where each celebrity is paired with a professional dancer and will be competing to win one of two trophies.
Studio seating tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for kids, and assigned seating in the Colleen Shea Auditorium costs $35. Doors for the event will be open at 7 P.M.
The event will be raising money to benefit KISS Theatre Company, a nonprofit organization which educates youth about the performing arts.
Anne Rodella, who is one of the celebrity dancers and the director of sales and marketing at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, says she’s feeling a little nervous for her disco debut.
“I am nervous,” says Rodella. “The practices have been a lot of fun. My partner has been amazing at dealing with my schedule and I’m thoroughly enjoying myself even though I’m nervous. I hope we can help them raise a lot of money to continue what they do — providing theater experience for kids and making the arts more accessible.”
Dancers will have the opportunity to win two different trophies, The People’s Choice and The Judge’s Choice. The audience will be able to vote for their favorite pair by donating, and $1 equals one vote.
WNEP-TV anchor and reporter Julie Sidoni and Dave Reynolds, an associate professor of theater at King’s College and artistic director of Gaslight Theatre Company, will host the event.
