One-hundred percent of the money raised at the annual banquet is spent within the tri-county area. The chapter maintains control of all funds raised, and it invests the money into the local community.
The Winona/Root River Chapter of Pheasants Forever promotes youth events in the outdoors. The chapter held its annual youth hunt Oct. , with 16 youth participating in trap shooting, learning about native prairie, watching trained hunting dogs work in the field and accompanying a mentor on the pheasant hunt.
The chapter also sponsors three high school trap shooting teams in the area.
The chapter, in partnership with La Crescent elementary school, completed a one-acre pollinator prairie project. The project enabled more than 60 students to participate in the hands on seeding of a native prairie. This prairie will be a wonderful educational tool for many generations of students.
