‘InsideOutside’ art show opens with reception at Fairfield’s Art/Place
“InsideOutside,” paintings by Art/Place Gallery members Elaine Clayton and Barbara Bernstein, opens with a free reception on Sunday, March 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. The artists will talk about their work at 3:30 p.m. The show will run through Sunday, April 9.
According to the gallery, Clayton, of Westport, also is “an author, Reiki Master and intuitive reader. Her art and her books, including ‘Making Marks: Discover the Art of Intuitive Intelligence’ (Simon and Schuster, 2014, explores the spiritual, intuitive connection between art, creativity, personal unconscious memory and intuitive intelligence.
She also is the author/illustrator of books for children, including books by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jane Smiley. Her art has appeared in The New York Times, New York Times Book Review, as well as on large installation murals in schools, libraries and professional spaces. She received a master’s in fine arts from School of Visual Arts in New York, according to her bio.
Barbara Bernstein, of Weston, has been a member of the cooperative nonprofit Art Place Gallery since its founding 35 years ago. She taught art in the Westport Public Schools for 20 years and has participated in more than 200 area juried shows, including Art of the Northeast multiple times, Salmagundi, Allied Artists of America and New Haven Paint & Clay Club shows, the gallery said.
