BATTLE CREEK — Services for Lois A. Praeuner, 86, Battle Creek, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. The Rev. B.J. Fouts will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery in Battle Creek.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday with the family present at the church in Battle Creek.
She died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2018, at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek.
Hasemann Funeral Home of Wayne is in charge of the arrangements.
Lois Althera Pettitt was born April 10, 1932, at her home near Norfolk to Roy and Elsie (Uecker) Pettitt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Lois attended country school near Norfolk, St. Paul’s Lutheran School and graduated from Norfolk High School.
Lois married Milton G. Praeuner on Nov. 28, 1954, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. They farmed southwest of Battle Creek and then moved into Battle Creek. She worked at Jessen Manufacturing and Praeuner Oil Company in Battle Creek. She was later employed at the Farner Company in Norfolk until she retired.
Lois was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. She served St. John in numerous roles, including church greeter, ladies aid, assisting acolytes and on the finance counting committee.
Lois enjoyed playing cards and games, gardening, walking, Husker sports and watching her grandchildren’s activities. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her children, Deborah (Jerry) Potts of Norfolk, Douglas (Loretta) Praeuner of Battle Creek, Diane Pratt of Battle Creek and Dwight (Nancy) Praeuner of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Ryan Potts of Omaha, Amy (Dan) Johnson of Norfolk, Paige (Shawn) Erickson, Brock Heggemeyer, Lauren Praeuner and Benjamin Praeuner of Battle Creek; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kaylee, Braylee and Jhett; her sister, Arlein (Orville) Anderson of Hoskins; her sisters-in-law, Eileen Pettitt of Carroll, Iowa, and Mary Praeuner of Norfolk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Milton in 1996; her sisters, Lottie (Miles) Dubsky and Hulda (Edgar) Wichman; her brothers, Fred (Elaine) Pettitt, Leonard (Adeline) Pettitt, Lee (Velma) Pettitt, Delbert Pettitt and Gilbert Pettitt (in infancy); her brothers- and sister-in-law, Herbert Praeuner, John and Alberta Hoover.
