Local Roundup: Gardner Scores Four Goals for Lunenburg
LUNENBURG -- David Gardner was downright unstoppable Friday afternoon, leading the Lunenburg boys’ soccer team to a 6-1 win over visiting Ayer Shirley.
After the Panthers took a quick lead with a goal five minutes into the contest, Gardner took over, scoring four goals and adding an assist as the Blue Knights gained control. Eric Christensen chipped in with one goal and one assist, and Wes Frank scored his first goal of the season. Also for Lunenburg, Dale Linabury played another great game in net.

Nicole Tocco and Aislinn DeHorsey each scored in the first nine minutes as the Falcons sprinted out to an early lead and never looked back. Senior Molly Richard, of Leominster, potted her team-leading 13th goal off a corner set to round out the scoring, with DeHorsey, of Leominster, garnered an assist on the play. Freshman Abby Bryant posted five saves to earn the shutout.
During a pregame ceremony on Senior Night at Elliot Field, the Falcons (10-9, 7-5 LEC) honored seniors Richard, Maggie Gallagher, Alanah Pachecho and Elizabeth McNiff, of Leominster.
Fitchburg State now awaits the announcement of the pairings for the Little East Conference tournament. First-round action is scheduled for Wednesday.

The victory improves the Spartans to 5-3.

The Bulldogs drop to 2-6.
The Blue Knights fall to 6-2.

Erica Spallone tallied two goals and Lauren Hill added another as Nashoba Regional (16-0-1) finished up an unbeaten regular season with the road victory. Caylie McMahon had seven saves in the shutout.
Jane Keaveney had a strong night for Nashoba with 11 points off the serve, including six aces. Carleigh Campana was also strong in the victory, finishing with four kills and three blocks. Set scores were 25-16, 25-7 and 25-11.
With the win, the Chieftains (16-4) finishes the regular season undefeated in league play.
North Middlesex 3
Sara Murphy had six kills and one block for the Patriots (11-9). She wraps up the regular season with 76 blocks, finishing in the top five in the state. Kate Kleeman had three kills and two blocks, finishing with 62 blocks on the season -- among the top 10 in the state. Also for North Middlesex, Renee Dellachaie had three kills and two aces. Set scores were 25-7, 25-15 and 25-13.

The Bernardians ended the fall season on a high note, earning their second win of the campaign with an impressive road victory. Set scores were 25-16, 25-22, 12-25 and 25-17.
