Marshall social work students to host candidates Thursday

HUNTINGTON - Marshall University’s School of Social Work is inviting local political candidates to the annual Tri-State Organizing Conference on Thursday, Oct. 18.

Students from the university’s Social Work 330 class will host several candidates from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. The event, which is open to the public, will take place in room 324 of Prichard Hall.

Candidates will present their platforms and hear from students and guests about issues that matter to the community.

Confirmed West Virginia House of Delegates candidates include Jeanette Rowsey, Karen Nance, Brianne Larisse Solomon, Daniel Linville, Ken Hicks and Matt Spurlock.

Confirmed West Virginia Senate candidates include Amy Nichole Grady and Larry Brooke Lunsford.

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., will send a representative.

Congressional candidates Richard Ojeda and Carol Miller have not responded to invitations, organizers said.
