Sauk Valley art tour
Seventeen artists from Byron to Sterling are opening their studios this weekend for workshops, demos, exhibits and prize drawings.
The tour, put on by members of the Rock River Valley Painters Guild from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, will include photography. alcohol Ink art, tiles, jewelry, glass art, ceramics, graphic novel art, and, of course, watercolors, oils and acrylics.

Carnival down by the river
ROCK FALLS – The annual St. Andrew Grade School carnival runs through Sunday along the Rock Falls riverfront, near Avenue A and East Second Street, offering rides, games, food, and entertainment.
Armbands cost $20 and are good for unlimited rides from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Adventure at the Y
STERLING – The Sterling-Rock Falls Family YMCA’s annual Outdoor Adventure Fest runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 2505 Ave. E.
Activities include learning to fish in the Y pool and playing on giant inflatables. Learning centers will offer critter talks featuring native and zoo animal presentations presented by Hoo Haven.
There also will be a vendor show.
Admission, activities, and a meal are available to all, at no charge.

‘Neil Young’ at Rosbrook
DIXON – Sun Green, a Neil Young Tribute Band, will perform at 8 p.m. at Rosbrook Studio, 107 S. Peoria Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m.; admission is $5.
Pizza and beverages by Mama Cimino’s will be sold.

Carrollton in concert
STERLING – Christian artists Carrollton will perform from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Centennial Auditorium at Sterling High School, 1608 Fourth Ave.
Tickets cost $12 for general admission, $20 for those who want to enter early, and $10 for groups of four or more.
