WILLISTON, Vt. (AP) — The Williston Police Department will welcome its first “Comfort K-9” this weekend.

Duke is the first K-9 officer in Vermont to serve solely as a therapy dog for people who have experienced trauma, WCAX-TV reported.

Duke was donated to the department by Boonefield Labradors in southern New Hampshire.

The department will livestream the first meeting between Duke and his police handler on Sunday.

Duke has to complete training before he will be officially certified.
