Lexi Antol of Hurricane earns this week’s honor

December 1, 2017

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. & The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s Female Gamer of the Week award to Lexi Antol of Hurricane High School.

Daughter of Michelle and Ron Antol, Lexi Antol has been involved with swimming for approximately seven years. Lexi is a sophomore at Hurricane High School and currently holds a 4.0 GPA.

“Swimming and school take up a lot of my time,” says Lexi, “but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.”

In swimming, Lexi competes in the 200 IM and 100 meter backstroke. In their past meet at Marshall, Lexi placed third in the 100 backstroke and fifth in the 200 IM out of 40 competitors.

“Her work ethic is top notch, she wants to put in whatever it takes to be at the top,” said Coach Kendra White. She went on to say that Lexi has worked hard and has taken off 20 seconds on her 200 IM time since last year. “Her times have improved across the board, she is a great role model for swimmers young and old.”

Last year as a freshman Lexi qualified for the state tournament, she has set a goal for herself to make it to the finals at states. “I want to keep improving, I want to be the best swimmer that I can be,” said Lexi.

When Lexi was asked what she believed the key to her success was she stated, “Swimming fast and having a great team environment, It is so much easier to do your best when you have the support of the teammates and your coaches.”

As for her future, Lexi plans on to continue improving her swimming times and has goals to attend college; as for where, that is still undecided.

“I want to enjoy where I am now, I want to become one of the best in the state.”
