Suspect in shooting at apartment complex hospitalized
WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (AP) — Police say the suspect in a shooting at a Connecticut apartment complex faces a murder charge.
Windsor Locks police say 38-year-old Antwon Barnes faces an arrest warrant for murder and other charges but have not been able to serve it as Barnes has been admitted to a hospital for a health issue. He remains there under police guard.
Lt. Paul Cherniak says Barnes shot and killed 35-year-old Leroy Jefferson on Tuesday then fled to Hartford, where he was later apprehended. Police say the suspect also aimed the gun at the woman, but it did not fire.
Cherniak says the mother of Barnes’ child was in a romantic relationship with Jefferson.
It’s not clear if Barnes has an attorney.
