November 30, 2016

PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix biosciences company Translational Genomics Research Institute, or TGen, has become a unit of California-based City of Hope.

The Arizona Republic reports (http://bit.ly/2gVSVRR ) that TGen will maintain its lab and headquarters at the Phoenix Biomedical Campus but is now a subsidiary of the California health care provider.

Neither company revealed financial terms of the deal.

TGen President and Research Director Jeffrey Trent says he hopes to expand TGen’s staff by about one-third as a result of the alliance with City of Hope.

Trent will keep his current position but will report to City of Hope President and CEO Robert Stone, who will serve as vice chairman of TGen’s board of directors.
