The Angels’ runs came on Mike Trout’s major league-leading ninth home run. … A perennial MVP candidate, Trout is slashing .306/.413/674 for the season. … Albert Pujols is sitting on 2,992 hits. With eight more, the 38-year-old will join Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Alex Rodriguez as the only players in major league history to reach both 3,000 hits and 600 home runs. Pujols sat out Sunday after hitting his 618th career homer on Saturday.
