PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island man who purchased, downloaded and concealed child pornography videos he obtained from the dark web with the use of bitcoin has been sentenced to 3 ½ years in prison.

Federal prosecutors say 34-year-old Stephen Langlois Jr., of Warwick, used bitcoin to subscribe to an overseas child pornography website from which he acquired and downloaded more than 100 videos of child pornography, including some that depicted sadism. Langlois concealed the videos in a music folder on his laptop.

He pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Providence in January to possession of child pornography. In addition to the prison term, Langlois got 10 years of probation and was ordered to pay $5,000.
