May 2, 2018 GMT

Special Washington hunting permits for fall deer, elk, mountain goats, moose, bighorn sheep and turkeys are due May 23.

Permits will be awarded through a random drawing conducted by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, according to a department news release.

Special permits give hunters access to times and places otherwise closed to general hunt permits.

To apply, go to authorized vendors or online at fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/.

Or call 1-877-945-3492 toll-free.

Most special hunt permit applications cost $7.10 for residents, $110.50 for non-residents, and $3.80 for youth under 16 years of age, according to the news release.

Applications for mountain goats, bighorn sheep ram, moose and “quality” categories for deer and elk cost $13.70.
